Dreamwidth is still here! Time to return?

I had completely forgotten that Dreamwidth still exists! There are a large number of journaling platforms that I have used over the years. I miss some of the things that I could do with LiveJournal in the old days that I can't do with other journaling software, and since Dreamwidth is based on the same code as LiveJournal, it definitely has its benefits. Since I am trying to build up a Miracle Morning discipline, maybe I should try this again.

When I last used Dreamwidth, I was still processing the death of my friend Wayne in 2012. Eight years later, Ken is also gone, and I am creating a new life for myself with my dog Logan, two cats, lots of coffee and a law practice that I'm trying to transition away from adversarial cases to collaborative law and mediation. I am a daily user of Facebook, but Facebook tends to chew up a large amount of time every day, so maybe I should be spending more time writing on Dreamwidth instead of reading on Facebook. It's worth considering.

Plus, I can use my Ellen Page icons again, and I still think she's the best.

Both LJ and DW are quieter these days, although many folks migrated here after the Russian buyout back in... I don't remember when. It's still quiet, but the folks who run it are far more involved with the user-base and helpfully responsive. They're in the middle of some pretty big code-pushes, and when the last one caused a number of accessibility difficulties, they responded as quickly as possible. If you're looking for interaction, best way is to find some communities to get involved in. If you just want a nice, safe place to blog, it can absolutely be that, too. Cheers! :)

Well, it's been so long I don't even remember how we connected, but I'm not complaining. I kept my LJ alive although I only crosspost to it, and about once a month I get a birthday reminder with a name I go "huh? who?!?" with. It's good to see some folks coming back from the blips of other social media.

Since you have an Ellen fondness- what did you think of Umbrella Academy in general and her role in particular? For most of season 1, she was the only character I could stand until /spoiler, and then her rebound in S2 was simply a joy to watch.

I postponed seeing "Umbrella Academy" until the second season came out, and I'm glad I did. I definitely liked the second season better than the first. E.P. did a great job with a role that was written in a fairly one-dimensional way, at least toward the beginning, and gave a depth through her performance that went beyond the script. She does that!

Since E.P. still looks so much younger than her age, I still haven't given up hope that she might star in a Shadowcat movie someday. The character is in a "currently dead" phase in the comics last I checked, but that isn't likely to last.
